Kristin Davis recently shared a story about a “horrible” celebrity encounter on her Are You a Charlotte? podcast. She opened up about an ex-boyfriend, an “out-of-work actor” she dated before becoming famous for her role as Charlotte York in Sex and the City. At the time, she was working on Melrose Place, and the man, who she says is now a “very successful actor,” was struggling financially. He was reportedly receiving bill notices threatening to shut off his electricity and even wrecked his motorcycle, which he used for auditions.
As a supportive girlfriend, Davis wanted to help him out. “Can I lend you some money?” she asked, revealing that she gave him $5,000. But in hindsight, she called it a “horrible mistake.” Although she thought it was a kind gesture to help him during a rough time, the act seemed to shift their relationship. After lending him the money, the actor stopped calling her. In an attempt to confront him, Davis went to his apartment and started knocking on his door. She could hear his dog inside, and suspected he was ignoring her.
When the actor later called her, asking if she had been at his place, Davis admitted it and said she felt “so embarrassed.” She confessed she would have liked some acknowledgment for the money she lent him, but instead, the situation left her feeling messy and awkward. Though she didn’t name the actor, Davis did reveal that he now lives in the country with children, while she has moved on with her life and is a mother to her adopted children, Gemma, 13, and Wilson, 6.
