Liam Payne’s Psychiatrist Urged Him to Seek Intensive Care Months Before His Death

Liam Payne’s former psychiatrist reportedly advised him to seek more specialized care months before his untimely death. In a letter that was filed in an Argentine court and later reported by TMZ on December 30, the psychiatrist explained that after careful consideration, she had decided to withdraw her services because she felt the One Direction singer needed a higher level of treatment. She strongly recommended that Payne continue attending therapy regularly to address his depression and trauma. Additionally, she suggested that he meet with a primary care doctor, take his prescribed medications, and avoid drinking heavily. The psychiatrist even provided him with a list of doctors and rehab centers that could offer the help he needed.

In her note, she concluded by expressing her best wishes for Payne’s journey toward better mental health: “Thank you for your understanding, and I wish you the very best in your continued journey toward mental health and well-being,” she wrote.

Tragically, Payne was found dead on October 16 after falling from the third floor of his hotel room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. A preliminary autopsy indicated that multiple injuries, including hemorrhages in his chest, skull, and abdomen, caused his death. While there was some early speculation about suicide, a preliminary police investigation suggested that Payne fell from the balcony while intoxicated.

In connection with his death, five people have been charged, including Payne’s friend Roger Nores, hotel staff members Esteban Grassi and Gilda Martin, and two others—Braian Paiz, a waiter, and CasaSur employee Ezequiel Pereyra—who are accused of providing drugs to Payne in the days leading up to the fatal incident. All five individuals are scheduled to appear in court.

Nores, who had been with Payne shortly before his death, addressed the allegations against him in a November interview with the Daily Mail. He expressed that he never abandoned Payne and explained that when he left Payne in the hotel lobby, there were many people around him, laughing and talking. “I could have never imagined something like this would happen. I’m really heartbroken by this tragedy, and I’ve been missing my friend every day,” he said.

Earlier this month, Nores also filed a complaint against the hotel, claiming that they failed to ensure Payne’s safety during his stay at CasaSur.
