The makers of Sundar Poonam have unveiled its first look, offering an intense glimpse into a crime thriller rooted in real events. Starring Sanya Malhotra and Aditya Rawal, the film is inspired by a widely discussed honeymoon murder case that shocked the country in 2025.
Directed by Pulkit, the film presents Malhotra as Poonam, a bride whose story takes a dark turn. The visuals open with her dressed in a striking red bridal outfit, wearing traditional jewellery, before shifting to quieter moments where she is seen applying lipstick and smiling at herself. A mobile phone flashing multiple names hints at hidden identities and secrets.
The teaser builds tension with a fictional news-style voiceover describing a newly married couple who go missing during their honeymoon. What begins as a simple trip soon unfolds into a mystery, with the narrative pointing towards deeper, unsettling truths about Poonam’s past and behaviour.
According to the makers, the film explores themes of obsession, secrets and emotional complexity, suggesting that Poonam’s actions pull those around her into a dangerous situation. The line “Inspired by true events that actually happened” and the phrase “Guilt is such a useless emotion” further underline its psychological tone.
Backed by Tips Films and Abundantia Entertainment, the project is produced by Kumar Taurani and Vikram Malhotra. While the release date has not yet been announced, the film is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
