Neil Gaiman stands firm in his denial of multiple sexual assault accusations in his latest blog post

Neil Gaiman has strongly denied recent sexual assault allegations made against him, expressing his need to address the matter publicly after remaining silent to protect the individuals involved. In a statement posted on his blog, Gaiman acknowledged that certain aspects of the accusations “half-recognize” parts of his past but firmly rejected the idea that he ever engaged in non-consensual sexual activity. He asserted, “I’m far from a perfect person, but I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever.”

Gaiman admitted to shortcomings in his past relationships, specifically his emotional unavailability and selfishness, which he deeply regrets. He clarified, however, that he does not accept the accusations of abuse, pointing out that while he may have been careless with people’s feelings, he never participated in any abusive behavior.

The allegations involve two women. One claims that Gaiman assaulted her when they first met in New Zealand while she worked as a nanny. Gaiman acknowledged they had a consensual relationship but denied any assault. The other woman, who met him at a book signing when she was 18, alleged she had a rough sexual encounter with him that she did not enjoy or consent to. Gaiman denied this claim as well.

He stressed that he would not accept being described as someone he is not, and reiterated that some of the stories being circulated are entirely fabricated or heavily distorted from the actual events. Despite these controversies, Gaiman reaffirmed his commitment to truth and vowed to continue with his work, including as an executive producer on The Sandman season 2.
