Saif Ali Khan Thanks Auto Driver Who Rushed Him to Hospital After Burglary Incident

Actor Saif Ali Khan, who was hospitalized after being stabbed during a burglary at his Bandra residence last week, met and thanked auto driver Bhajan Singh Rana on Tuesday before being discharged from Lilavati Hospital. Rana had rushed the actor to the hospital in the early hours of January 16, potentially saving his life.

Pictures circulating on X (formerly Twitter) show Saif and Rana smiling together, with one image capturing them seated on a hospital bed. Rana also met Saif’s family, including his mother, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, who expressed their gratitude for his quick action.

The incident occurred at around 2:30 am when Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, attempted to rob the actor’s home. A staff member confronted Shehzad, leading to an altercation during which Saif was stabbed multiple times. According to police reports, the attacker claimed he stabbed Saif in self-defense as the actor had caught him. The assailant escaped through the same bathroom window he had entered and evaded capture for three days before being arrested.

Rana’s swift decision to transport Saif to the hospital at 3 am has drawn widespread praise. “I’m just glad I could help,” Rana reportedly said. Saif, now recovering, is expected to take a brief hiatus before returning to work.
