Sanam Teri Kasam, the 2016 romantic drama starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, has found unexpected success after its theatrical re-release. Originally a box office failure, the film has now garnered immense love from audiences, prompting Rane to campaign for a sequel.
The actor, moved by the audience’s overwhelming response, recently announced on Instagram that he is willing to go on an 11-day water fast to convince producers to greenlight Sanam Teri Kasam 2. Sharing a clip of emotional and cheering viewers, Rane expressed his determination, stating, “I went below the producer’s office to request a re-release. Now, I will do an 11-day (water only) fast below his office to request him for Part 2.”
Rane’s passionate plea reflects the dedication of the film’s team. “Nine years ago, the producer gave it their blood, the director gave it their sweat, Mawra gave it her soul, and now you gave it your tears! I will give my life for Part-2, Tumhaari Kasam,” he added.
Despite its initial failure, Sanam Teri Kasam has now become one of the most successful Bollywood re-releases. According to Sacnilk, the film registered the biggest weekend for a re-release, collecting ₹3-3.25 crore on Monday. This took its total earnings to ₹18.50 crore more than double its original box office revenue of ₹9.1 crore.
