Scott Disick opened up about discussing his past alcohol struggles with son Mason on Khloé Kardashian’s newly launched podcast on Wednesday

Scott Disick recently shared how he’s open with his older son, Mason, about his past struggles with alcohol.

During an appearance on Khloé Kardashian’s podcast Khloé in Wonder Land on January 8, Disick, who shares three children—Mason (15), Penelope (12), and Reign (10)—with his ex, Kourtney Kardashian, discussed how he feels about his kids watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians footage. Disick mentioned that while other families might show their kids photo albums, they can watch videos from his kids’ births and grow up.

When asked by Kardashian if he was okay with Mason learning about his alcohol issues from the show, Disick said, “I don’t want them to see that,” but he’s been honest with Mason about how his drinking negatively impacted his life. He explained to his son the consequences of his past choices, and how it led him to some difficult situations.

Kardashian praised Disick for being upfront with his children about his past, and Disick mentioned that Mason had once thought he would be treated differently when it came time for him to drink. However, he assured Mason that his past mistakes wouldn’t affect how he parents him in the future. Disick also added that if he ever notices a problem with Mason’s drinking, he will take action.

Disick, being mindful of any potential hereditary issues, said he will keep an eye on his son’s drinking habits. But for now, he treats Mason like any other kid, without focusing on his past behavior.

In a lighthearted moment, Kardashian jokingly suggested that Mason might be put off from drinking if he saw how bad his dad was in the past. Disick responded with a laugh, imagining Mason saying, “Wow, my dad was a real d*** then.” Kardashian reassured him, adding that Mason also knows how much Disick has changed for the better.

Disick wrapped up the conversation by telling Kardashian he frequently warns Mason about the dangers of drinking, noting that it could either lead to good times or end badly.
