Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha has voiced his strong support for his daughter Sonakshi Sinha and her husband Zaheer Iqbal, reaffirming that their marriage is built on mutual understanding and happiness. In a recent interview with News18, Sinha addressed discussions surrounding their interfaith wedding and dismissed any concerns, making it clear that his family stands firmly behind the couple.
Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot in 2024 under the Special Marriage Act, a legal framework that allows individuals from different religions to marry without conversion. The ceremony attracted public attention not only due to their celebrity status but also because of ongoing conversations around interfaith unions in India.
Speaking candidly, Sinha described the couple as naturally compatible, saying they appear perfectly suited for each other. He emphasised that their relationship reflects genuine affection rather than external pressures or expectations. According to him, their happiness remains the most important factor.
Highlighting the independence of both Sonakshi and Zaheer, Sinha pointed out that they are adults capable of making their own life choices. He added that when two individuals are content in their relationship, the role of others is simply to support them.
Reiterating his stance, he said he stands by the couple wholeheartedly and believes families should offer encouragement rather than judgement. Sinha’s remarks underline a message of acceptance and support, placing the focus on personal choice and emotional well-being over societal debate.
