Ayo Edebiri recently shared a heartwarming and humorous story about her father’s reaction when he saw Meryl Streep for the first time at the Emmys. During an interview with W, Edebiri recalled how her father was utterly starstruck when he spotted the legendary actress. He was so overwhelmed that he started stuttering, desperately asking her if she could get a picture with Streep. However, he never got the chance to meet her, as she passed by too quickly.
Edebiri found it endearing how her father, who is typically a man of few words, became so starstruck by the sight of Meryl Streep. She also noted that she herself wasn’t sure if she would have had the courage to approach the actress. “He gets really starstruck,” she said, “He’s really a man of few words; he’s very charming and very wonderful, but he really doesn’t speak very much.”
Edebiri also reflected on how her father’s tastes in films had influenced her own. She mentioned his love for Westerns, Bollywood movies, and old Hollywood musicals, which played a significant role in shaping her appreciation for arts and entertainment.
As for Edebiri’s own career, she can now be seen in the new thriller Opus, where she stars alongside John Malkovich, Murray Bartlett, Rosario Dawson, and Tatanka Means, among others.
