The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano sues Disney for firing her with Elon Musk in support

Disney fired a Star Wars actress because of her inflammatory social media posts regarding the Holocaust, the pandemic and transgender rights. The actress is suing Disney, backed by Elon Musk’s X.

Gina Carano filed a complaint in California on Tuesday, claiming wrongful termination. Gina Carano played an important role in the highly famous Disney series The Mandalorian till 2021.

According to the suit, Disney’s actions and comments have damaged Carano’s reputation and opportunities for future employment. Carano was only expressing her own political opinions, but she was hounded by an extreme progressive” online mob, suit claims.

“Today is an important day for me — I am filing a lawsuit against @lucasfilm & @Disney,” she penned on X, formerly Twitter.

A spokesperson for X confirmed to AFP that X is funding the suit.

Carano claimed she was contacted by an X lawyer who offered to take on her case after she publicly replied to Musk’s open offer to help anybody sacked for using X to express free speech.

“As a sign of X Corp’s commitment to free speech, we’re proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano’s lawsuit,” said an official post by X on Tuesday.

Carano claims she  lost a role in the upcoming Mandalorian spin-off Rangers of the New Republic, which would have been worth “$150,000 to $250,000 per episode.” The lawsuit does not state how much money Carano is asking for damages.
