Tom Holland recently shared an amusing story in Men’s Health about how he once used his Spider-Man persona to break up a fight at a Los Angeles supermarket. The actor, known for his role as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2016, was caught in the middle of a brawl at the store. Holland recalled seeing the fight unfold right behind him, and, instinctively, he jumped in to separate the two men. As he grabbed one of them, he noticed that the guy immediately recognized him, and Holland could see him mentally wrestling with his anger. “I’m really angry, but Spider-Man is telling me to calm down,” Holland said, describing the situation with a chuckle.
While he doesn’t mind running errands in public, Holland shared that he prefers to avoid non-essential public events. He explained that attending such events often leads to unwanted attention, so when he wants to enjoy something, like watching a play, he plans ahead to keep things low-key. He’ll call the venue to ensure a private experience, saying, “It’s booked in advance, we sort it all out, we call ahead to the theater and make sure we can get somewhere private.”
Looking ahead, Holland has an exciting year. He’s gearing up for Spider-Man 4, which he’s especially excited about. In a recent interview, he revealed that he and his girlfriend Zendaya read the script together, and both were thrilled by it. Holland praised the writers for doing an excellent job, saying it really reignited his passion for the role.
On top of that, Holland is set to appear in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey, which he’ll begin filming in 2025. This will mark his return to the big screen after more than a year since his last major project, The Crowded Room, an Apple TV+ series that received mixed to negative reviews from critics.
When reflecting on The Crowded Room, Holland shared that the atmosphere on set was far from ideal. He admitted there was a lot of tension and animosity, which made the creative process challenging. Despite the difficulties, he remains focused on his upcoming projects and is eager to see what the future holds.
