Tyra Banks recently revealed that her Los Angeles home was destroyed in the devastating wildfires that have swept through the area. Speaking on Australia’s Sunrise, Banks shared, “I lost my house. I haven’t really talked about it, but, yeah, I have.” She explained that she kept the news private out of respect for others affected by the fires, stating, “I didn’t want to pull a lot of attention to me. There’s a lot of people that need that attention.”
Banks was in Australia when she first learned of the disaster. She recalled staying updated on the situation via her phone, not so much for her own property but to ensure that friends and family were evacuating safely. Despite the overwhelming news, she maintained her composure, only revealing the loss to her friends later, when they shared an emotional moment together.
Although Banks spends time between Australia and New York City, she mentioned that while many of her sentimental items were in New York, some irreplaceable mementos were lost in the fire. The wildfires in L.A. have claimed at least 27 lives and destroyed over 15,000 structures, though firefighting efforts are making progress, with some fires nearing containment.
The emotional toll of this tragedy is felt by many, and Banks’ openness about her loss highlights the personal impact these catastrophic events have on those affected.
