According to The Independent and TMZ, a death certificate from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health states that the legendary Twin Peaks director passed away due to cardiac arrest caused by obstructive pulmonary disease. Dehydration was also listed as a contributing factor.

Lynch, known for his surreal storytelling and unique cinematic style, left behind an incredible legacy with works like Mulholland Drive, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, and Wild at Heart. His influence on cinema and television remains undeniable, and his passing has been deeply felt across the entertainment industry.

His death was announced on January 16, 2025, in a statement from his family on social media. They wrote, “There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’” They also added, “It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.”
