
Fans of the upcoming Austin Butler film Caught Stealing can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as the movie’s official release date has been revealed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the thrilling film will hit theaters on August 29, 2025. Directed by Darren Aronofsky and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, Caught Stealing is based on the novel of the same name by Charlie Huston.
Austin Butler’s ‘Caught Stealing’ plot and cast
The film follows Hank Thompson (played by Austin Butler), a former baseball player who gets unexpectedly drawn into the gritty crime underworld of New York City during the 1990s. This thrilling storyline, combined with a stellar ensemble cast, promises to captivate audiences. Alongside Butler, the film stars Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Liev Schreiber, Bad Bunny, and Matt King, adding significant star power to this highly anticipated release.
Initially, Insidious 6 was slated for a release on August 29, 2025. However, the release date has now been moved to August 21, 2026, according to reports. The latest installment of the Insidious franchise will be directed by Patrick Wilson, who has previously appeared in the series and will also star in this new film alongside Ty Simpkins and Rose Byrne.
The last Insidious film, Insidious: The Red Door (2023), was also directed by Wilson and achieved impressive box office success, grossing approximately USD 189 million globally against a budget of USD 16 million.
In addition to the changes in release dates for Caught Stealing and Insidious 6, Sony has also removed an untitled Marvel project from its release calendar. Originally set for June 27, 2025, this project has been taken off the schedule following the disappointing box office performances of Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web. Fans will have to wait for further details on whether the project will be rescheduled or reworked entirely.
