Great news for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver fans—HBO has reversed its decision to delay next-day YouTube clips! Initially, the network had pushed the release schedule to Thursdays to drive more viewers to its streaming service, Max. However, after seeing no major change in viewership, HBO has decided to bring back Monday morning uploads for the remainder of the season.
Starting now, clips from each Sunday night episode will be available on YouTube every Monday at 3 a.m. ET. This means fans can once again catch John Oliver’s signature mix of humor and hard-hitting news coverage without waiting until later in the week.
Back in February 2024, HBO delayed the clips to encourage viewers to watch full episodes on Max, citing that Last Week Tonight wasn’t as accessible on streaming in the past—hence the need for YouTube exposure. But since the delay didn’t significantly boost Max viewership, HBO decided to return to the old schedule.
Last Week Tonight Season 12 is Here
Now in its 12th season, Oliver’s satirical deep dives are as sharp as ever. The season premiere tackled the first four weeks of Donald Trump’s second presidential term, breaking down the administration’s strategy in true Oliver fashion.
The official episode description even teases:
“Why it is indeed f–k time. You heard us: It’s f–k time.”
Clips from Episode 1 are already available on the Last Week Tonight YouTube channel—so if you missed out, you can catch up now!
