Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore has addressed the ongoing speculation about Black Panther 3 potentially recasting the role of T’Challa, which was originally portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman. In an interview, Moore firmly denied the rumors, stating that there have been no discussions about replacing Boseman. He explained that the creative team, particularly director Ryan Coogler, has not yet begun planning for the sequel as Coogler is currently focused on his upcoming project, Sinners, which is set to release this year.
Moore also clarified that production on Black Panther 3 has not started yet, meaning that much of the online speculation is premature. He reassured fans, saying, “Everything you read online is not true, if for no other reason than we just haven’t started [working on it].”
While Moore is set to leave Marvel Studios soon, he will remain involved with Black Panther 3, ensuring continuity for the upcoming film.
Boseman’s portrayal of T’Challa first debuted in Captain America: Civil War (2016) and continued in Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). His tragic death from colon cancer in August 2020 left a significant mark on the MCU, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) honored him by addressing T’Challa’s in-universe death.
Although details about Black Panther 3 remain under wraps, Denzel Washington has hinted at joining the film, though Marvel has not confirmed any casting decisions or plot details at this time. Fans will have to wait for further announcements, but it’s clear that the legacy of Boseman’s T’Challa will continue to play a central role in the MCU.
