Hollywood actor Will Smith revealed the title and cover of his forthcoming inspirational autobiography on Saturday. The memoir is titled ‘WILL’ and will be published by Penguin Press and release on Tuesday, November 9.
The ‘Pursuit Of Happyness’ actor took to his Instagram handle to announce his book.
In the video, the actor said, “It’s been a labour of love. I’ve been working on it for the past two years and it is finally ready.”
According to a report by People’s magazine, Smith’s memoir ‘WIll’ will explore his early life in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, touch on his breakout role in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and then looking into later acting endeavours such as Hitch and Ali, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.
The actor also revealed that his cover was designed by New Orleans artist Brandan “BMike” Odums. It features a carefully crafted portrait of the actor in yellow and black, accented with pink, purple and blue hues.
The idea behind to show the depth of the canvas which an image might fail to do. The cover was created by repeatedly layering imagery of the actor from various stages in his life, from childhood to the present time.
The book is an “inspirational tale of how [Smith’s] true self-knowledge helped to propel him to extraordinary success, and then evolve further to a place of deeper peace – with himself, his loved ones and the world,” said a 2018 press release detailing the book.
The actor is writing “WILL” with Mark Manson. Mark Manson’s self-help manual, ‘The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A FK’ became a bestseller when it was published in 2016. Three months before Smith’s book deal was announced, he collaborated with Manson for his book.
Smith then released an Instagram video saying, “I’m writing a book! I have years to say and I’m finally going to write a book. I’m writing it for everything.” Mason can be seen joking in the video with him asking him, “Are you confident?” Smith asked Manson in a video. “Do you think this book can make transcendental art?” “I’ve been worried for the past six months, but I feel good today.”
To which Smith replied with a smile, “We are very confident to go with the highest bidder … I’m just saying.”
“WILL” will not only inspire but will also highlight the actor’s humour and candidness.
Smith captioned the video, “Mark Manson is true! He’s going to get a book from me.” “I’m so ready! I’m a match to tell you all my business.”
“WILL” is now available for pre-order.
