Newlywed Bollywood actor Yami Gautam has joined Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi to feature in the sequel of the blockbuster 2012 film ‘OMG: Oh My God 2’. A recent news revealed that Yami will play the female lead while the ‘Mirzapur’ star Pankaj Tripathi will be replacing Paresh Rawal in the film’s upcoming sequel. However, Akshay Kumar will be repeating his role of “Krishna Vasudev Yadav” in Oh My God 2, which will produced by Ashwin Varde, who produced the original satirical comedy-drama.
While Yami Gautam has been making headlines lately as she surprised fans by publishing her wedding pictures with ‘Uri’ director Aditya Dhar on June 4, 2021, reports about her joining the cast of Oh My God 2 have recently made the rounds on the social media as well. A source told Bollywood Hungama that the Kaabil actor will be playing a vital role in the highly-anticipated series of the 2012 film.
“If they wanted to make OMG 2 just because it’s a brand, there would have been 5 OMG’s by now. But the team was clear to take things very seriously and hence have decided on making OMG only when they were all satisfied with the story. It will be released exactly a decade after the first part,” the source shared with Bollywood Hungama.
It was also revealed that while the original film was about a man’s fight with God, its upcoming installment will showcase a unique story of three main characters, which is to be played by Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami. The film will also record Akshay and Yami’s first time big-screen alliance.
