Christina Applegate Slams People Who Are Happy About LA Fires

Christina Applegate didn’t hold back when addressing the insensitive remarks about the Los Angeles wildfires during a January 14 episode of her MeSsy podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler. The two were discussing the devastating situation unfolding in Hollywood when Applegate took aim at people who have been celebrating the destruction.

“There are not really words for it,” Sigler said, prompting Applegate to respond, calling out those who’ve been wishing “good riddance” to the city. “F—— people who are saying that it’s, you know, good. It’s Hollywood and those stupid Hollywood people. Like, you’ve gotta be kidding me,” she said, visibly upset.

The Dead to Me actress pointed out that many people outside of L.A. mistakenly think the city is only home to celebrities, but she made it clear that L.A. is also home to hardworking individuals like builders, painters, and fast food workers—people who are putting in the effort every day to support their families.

When Sigler suggested tuning out the negativity, Applegate admitted that she tried to ignore the comments, calling them “ridiculous.” However, she decided to use her platform to call attention to the ignorance and insensitivity of those remarks.

Applegate also shared a personal update, revealing that she and her daughter, Sadie, had to evacuate their home a few days earlier and were on high alert for any future evacuation orders. “I just have a backpack … the important papers and things that mean something to you,” she explained.
