Deon Cole Hospitalized On His Birthday and Forced To Evacuate Home

On January 9, comedian Deon Cole shared a concerning update with his followers on Instagram, revealing that he had been hospitalized on his 53rd birthday. Though he didn’t disclose the reason for his hospitalization, he expressed his gratitude for the birthday wishes he had received, thanking everyone for their support. In the post, he shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed, wearing a mask and hooked up to monitors. Many celebrities, including Jamie Foxx, Nick Cannon, Kenya Barris, and Busta Rhymes, showed their support in the comments.

The following evening, Cole shared an emotional update from his car as he evacuated his Los Angeles home due to nearby wildfires. He described the chaos of the situation, mentioning the distress of leaving his home and packing up irreplaceable items, such as flowers his late mother had given him before her passing in 2021. “This day is devastating!!!!” he wrote, adding that he had left the hospital feeling unwell and had to evacuate as the fires intensified. He described watching the flames rise from behind his house, calling the experience a “nightmare.”

In the midst of the wildfires, Cole made the difficult decision to cancel his birthday party, which was originally planned at his home. He shared that it didn’t feel right to celebrate while others were losing everything they owned, and he himself was under high alert for his own safety. In a separate post, he urged his followers to pray for the families affected by the fires, emphasizing the dire situation.
