During Guru Nanak Jayanti, devotees gather at gurdwaras to read the Guru Granth Sahib, participate in special prayers, and eat free langar. Another feature of the festivities is the Prabhat Pheri processions, in which Sikhs play drums and cymbals while chanting “Wahe Guru.”.
The Langar Seva, a communal kitchen, serves free meals to promote equality. Prayers, gurbani recitation, and ardas are offered to express gratitude and ask for well-being. Additionally, Kar Sewa—volunteer community service—is carried out, demonstrating the core tenets of Sikhism.
