Hacks’ Altadena Mansion Destroyed In LA Fires

The Los Angeles wildfire has wreaked havoc, causing unimaginable destruction as it tore through neighborhoods, historic landmarks, and iconic film sets. One of the notable casualties of the devastating blaze was the Altadena Mansion, a significant set used in the popular comedy series Hacks on Max. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the mansion was consumed by the Eaton fire, but media outlets have been unable to cover the aftermath due to mandatory evacuation orders still in effect in the area.

In Hacks, the mansion was introduced in season two as the “side mansion” of the character Deborah Vance, played by Jean Smart. Production Designer Alec Contestabile, who worked on the show, shared that the mansion was a massive, five-bedroom location frequently used for filming. It served as one of the key sets for the fourth season, but there was uncertainty about whether Deborah Vance’s character would return to the mansion in future episodes, leaving its fate up in the air before the fire.

The wildfire also threatened other iconic film locations, including the Crank house, known for its appearances in Matilda, Scream 2, and Catch Me If You Can. The infamous Rubio Street, which featured in classics like Risky Business and the popular TV series This Is Us, was also reportedly destroyed by the flames.

On top of that, photos of the McNally House, featured in Entourage and other productions, have gone viral, showing the house completely burned down. Another significant loss was the historic Will Rogers Ranch House, which was destroyed in the Palisades wildfire, marking another blow to Hollywood’s historic legacy. The devastation is a reminder of the unpredictable power of wildfires and the lasting impact they have on both local communities and the entertainment industry.
