Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, known for his stellar performances over a decades-long career, recently revealed a challenging phase in his life before the success of Kabir Singh. Currently promoting his upcoming film Deva, Shahid shared his emotional journey during an interview with Raj Shamani on his podcast.
The actor confessed that before Kabir Singh, he was made to feel “lesser” as an artist and a star, although no one explicitly forced this on him. “It’s like your clothes are better than mine. It’s comparative,” Shahid explained, adding that he was placed in situations where he felt inadequate. “Mujhe aisa mehsoos karaya gaya ke main kam hoon (I was made to feel like I was lesser),” he said. However, Shahid emphasized his determination to fight those feelings, describing himself as a survivor.
Before Kabir Singh turned into a blockbuster, Shahid appeared in multi-starrers like Padmaavat alongside Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, and Rangoon with Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan. Despite his notable work, Shahid admitted to struggling with self-doubt during this period.
Shahid is now set to play a police officer in Deva, an action thriller directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Co-starring Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, and Kubra Sait, the film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and is scheduled to hit theatres on January 31.
