Paul Feig has taken a strong stance against online rumors surrounding the second installment of A Simple Favor, responding to speculation that the film had been shelved due to Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s ongoing legal drama. The filmmaker cleared the air by taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, revealing that the movie was still on track and had already been completed.
Feig directly addressed the rumors while responding to a post that claimed Amazon had “indefinitely” shelved the movie because Lively supposedly refused to promote it amid the legal disputes and tension with Baldoni. He firmly stated, “This is total BS. Sorry. The movie is finished and coming out soon. Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.”
Earlier, Feig had expressed his support for Lively, especially after she filed her lawsuit. He publicly praised her professionalism and character, calling her “one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented and kind people” he’s ever worked with. Feig also denounced the “smear campaign” against Lively, emphasizing that it was “awful” that she had been subjected to such treatment.
