Jennifer Lopez revealed what connected her to Judy Robles, whose life her latest film Unstoppable is based on

Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming film Unstoppable has been generating a lot of buzz, with the actress receiving some of the best reviews of her career for her portrayal of Judy Robles. The film tells the inspiring story of Robles, a single mother who overcame financial struggles and an abusive relationship to raise her son, Anthony, who became a college wrestling champ despite being born with one leg.

In a conversation with Variety, Lopez shared that while Robles is too humble to accept praise for her remarkable story, she often encourages her to “own who you are and what you’ve done.” Lopez expressed that she relates deeply to Robles’ journey, describing them as “kindred spirits” who both grew up Latina in the U.S., faced challenges in relationships, and worked hard to hold their families together.

Lopez’s performance has been praised for its depth and nuance, earning her critical acclaim. Jharrel Jerome, who plays Anthony in the film, spoke about how nervous he was before meeting Lopez, especially since she was such an influential figure in his own upbringing as a Dominican growing up in the Bronx. However, he quickly found that Lopez was a fantastic scene partner, dedicated to getting every detail right.

In addition to the film’s success, Lopez was honored with the Legend & Groundbreaker Award at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival. Reflecting on the honor, Lopez expressed that she was “humbled” and “blown away,” but emphasized that this was only a milestone in her career, with her biggest projects and successes still ahead of her.
