Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar Settle Defamation Case Amicably After Years of Legal Battle

After years of legal disputes, actress Kangana Ranaut and veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar have officially resolved their defamation cases against each other through mediation. The “Emergency” actress shared the news on social media, posting a photograph with Javed Akhtar from the Bandra Magistrate’s Court.

In her post, Kangana expressed gratitude, stating, “Today Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. Javed ji has been very kind and gracious, and he has also agreed to write songs for my next directorial.”

According to India Today, the two arrived at the Bandra Magistrate’s Court around 10:30 a.m., accompanied by their respective lawyers Jay K. Bhardwaj and Rizwan Siddique. The mediation took place in the chamber of Magistrate Ashish Awari, where both parties agreed to settle the matter peacefully.

The legal battle began in 2020 after Kangana’s controversial interview following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. During the interview, she alleged that Javed Akhtar had pressured her to apologize to actor Hrithik Roshan following their public spat in 2016. In response, Akhtar filed a defamation suit, denying the accusations and calling them false.

Kangana later filed a counter-complaint, accusing Akhtar of “extortion and criminal intimidation.” With the settlement reached, both parties seem to have put their legal feud behind them, marking a positive conclusion to their long-standing conflict.
