It looks like fans of Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are in for some exciting news! The legendary duo may soon be teaming up again for a film adaptation of Erik Larson’s The Devil In The White City. Insiders confirmed to Deadline that Scorsese is in talks to direct, and DiCaprio is being considered for the leading role, with 20th Century Studios coming on board to produce the project.
The book, The Devil In The White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America, was released in 2004 and explores the chilling true story of a serial killer operating in Chicago during the 1893 World’s Fair. While the script for the film isn’t available yet, insiders shared that both DiCaprio and Scorsese have been working on this project for some time and feel the story still resonates deeply with audiences.
DiCaprio initially acquired the rights to the book in 2010, and though the project has faced several development hurdles over the years, a recent meeting with 20th Century executives seems to have sparked a renewed commitment to bring it to the big screen.
This isn’t the first time DiCaprio and Scorsese have teamed up; their previous collaborations include iconic films like The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), The Aviator (2005), Gangs of New York (2002), The Audition (2015), and the recent Killers of the Flower Moon (2023). Their partnerships have always resulted in unforgettable films, so this new project has fans eager for what’s next!
