Leonardo DiCaprio has committed to supporting recovery efforts from the devastating wildfires in California by donating $1 million. In an Instagram Story posted on January 15, the Oscar-winning actor announced his contribution in partnership with Re:Wild’s Rapid Response Program. The funds will aid urgent needs and post-fire recovery in Los Angeles, with initial aid going to organizations like the LA Fire Department Foundation, California Fire Foundation, World Central Kitchen, and others that are assisting first responders, firefighters, and affected communities.
DiCaprio, a Los Angeles native, co-founded Re:Wild and highlighted that its Rapid Response Program is uniquely equipped to address environmental disasters. The wildfires, which began on January 7, have become the deadliest in Los Angeles history, with 25 lives lost and thousands displaced.
This contribution follows similar efforts by other celebrities, including Jamie Lee Curtis, who also pledged $1 million for relief, alongside other stars like Jennifer Garner and Halle Berry, who are volunteering to help those impacted by the disaster.
