Sara Bareilles has a clear vision for her wedding with fiancé Joe Tippett, and it’s all about comfort, warmth, and a great experience for their loved ones. Speaking to PEOPLE at the American Heart Association’s Red Dress Collection Concert on January 30, the Grammy-winning singer shared details about her dream wedding.
For Bareilles, ensuring her guests feel cozy and relaxed is a non-negotiable. “I want comfortable places to sit,” she emphasized, adding that she’ll have plenty of blankets on hand in case of chilly weather. “I hate being cold,” she admitted, so making sure everyone feels warm and at ease is a priority.
No celebration is complete without amazing food and music, and Bareilles is making sure both are top-notch. “The food has to be slamming, and the music has to be amazing,” she said. Her goal is to create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere, making sure the day feels special for everyone attending.
“I just want it to feel really cozy and warm and inviting,” she shared, even joking about how invested she is in the planning: “You can ask my wedding planner.”
Bareilles and Tippett first met in 2015 while working on the stage production of Waitress at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They went public as a couple in 2017, making their red carpet debut at the opening night of All the Fine Boys.
Now at 45, Bareilles’ vision for her wedding has evolved. “The dream of my wedding doesn’t look like it might have if I was in my early 20s,” she admitted. Rather than focusing on extravagant details, she’s prioritizing bringing her loved ones together to celebrate this new chapter.
While the couple originally hoped to marry in 2024, Tippett’s busy schedule may cause some delays. However, her core wedding priorities remain unchanged—good food, a warm atmosphere, and making sure guests have an unforgettable time.
“I really want my friends and family to feel like they had a great weekend,” she said, reaffirming that love and community are at the heart of her celebration.
