Thrash Metal Legends Metallica Donate $500K To LA Wildfire Relief Efforts

Metallica, one of the “Big Four” of American thrash metal, is stepping up to support those devastated by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. The band is making a generous contribution through their All Within My Hands (AWMH) Foundation, donating a total of $500,000 to aid in relief and recovery efforts.

According to reports, Metallica will allocate $250,000 to the California Community Foundation (CCF) and another $250,000 to the Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF), both of which are working on wildfire recovery funds. These donations will directly help those affected by the fires, which have been wreaking havoc in the Los Angeles area since January 7. While Metallica is contributing to the cause, they’re also encouraging their fans to donate to both CCF and PCF to further assist in the recovery.

The AWMH Foundation provided an update on the situation, noting that despite some progress over the weekend in containing the fires, the destruction continues and officials have warned residents to remain vigilant.

Although Metallica is typically based in San Francisco, the band originally formed in Los Angeles. The group’s frontman and rhythm guitarist, James Hetfield, is from Downey, and bassist Robert Trujillo hails from Santa Monica. This makes the wildfire crisis particularly personal for the band, who have strong ties to the area.
