In the midst of ongoing divorce speculations surrounding cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma, Uorfi Javed has revealed that Dhanashree personally thanked her for standing up against the online backlash.
During a recent appearance on the Humans of Bombay podcast, hosted by Karishma Mehta, Uorfi shared her experience after posting an Instagram Story in support of Dhanashree. While Uorfi did not directly name anyone, she hinted that Dhanashree had reached out to her following the post.
“I had posted a story in support of her because I thought she was being treated very unfairly. She reached out to me and thanked me for the support as she was going through a very difficult time,” Uorfi said.
In her January post, Uorfi criticized the tendency to blame women during high-profile breakups. “Every time a cricketer is breaking up or getting divorced, the woman is bashed left, right, and center just because, in our heads, our cricketer is our hero. None of us know what happened between the two,” she wrote.
Uorfi also mentioned similar cases, including the rumored divorce of Hardik Pandya and Natasa Stankovic, where Natasa faced harsh criticism. She questioned why cricketers are often viewed as faultless, asking, “Is the cricketer not a sensible person? Couldn’t he tell if the girl had married him for the money?”
