Yograj Singh, the father of cricketer Yuvraj Singh, recently shared his candid views on Bollywood films, particularly criticizing Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par. In an interview with YouTuber Samdish Bhatia on the channel Unfiltered by Samdish, Yograj called the 2007 film “wahiyat,” meaning worthless, and stated that he does not watch such movies.
Taare Zameen Par, directed by Aamir Khan, is a heartwarming drama about an 8-year-old boy, Ishaan Awasthi, who struggles with dyslexia. The film portrays his challenges at school and home, ultimately leading to his enrollment in a boarding school, where an art teacher, played by Aamir Khan, helps him discover his hidden talents. The film received widespread praise for its powerful message of embracing children’s unique strengths.
While the film has been lauded for its sensitive handling of dyslexia and its portrayal of educational issues, Yograj Singh was clear in his disapproval, labeling it as “baadi he wahiyat film hai” (a very bad film). He further added, “Main aisi picture nahi dekhta,” indicating his preference for not watching such films.
Recently, to commemorate the 17th anniversary of Taare Zameen Par, actress Tisca Chopra shared a nostalgic Instagram video, humorously recalling the film’s theme of dyslexia. The clip showed Darsheel Safary, who played Ishaan, playfully choosing junk food over healthier options, referencing his character’s reading struggles.
