Is Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith connected to each other despite living in different homes?

Although Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith aren’t living together anymore, they’re still very much a part of each other’s lives, according to sources close to the couple.

A source told People that while the couple is living separate lives, they haven’t completely cut ties. One insider explained, “Call it whatever you want, but they are still together,” adding that while they don’t share a home, they’ve had separate residences for years.

Will, 56, and Jada, 53, have been married since 1997. They separated in 2016, a fact Jada has openly discussed. In an interview ahead of releasing her 2023 memoir Worthy, she mentioned, “We’re still figuring it out,” and explained, “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just have a deep love for each other, and we’re going to figure out what that looks like for us.” She also made it clear that she was committed to standing by Will but also giving him space to work through things on his own.

As for Will, he’s been keeping busy with his work in film and music, though he’s reportedly a bit disillusioned with Hollywood. But, according to sources, that could all change if he sees some new success. He and rapper Big Sean dropped a music video for their track Beautiful Scars, which was inspired by The Matrix, on January 30.

Will and Jada have been open about their relationship over the years. On a 2023 episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Jada revealed that their marriage has gone through several breakups. In his 2021 memoir, Will talked about times when both of them were unhappy in their marriage and knew change was needed. He mentioned how they’ve always given each other trust and freedom, believing that both partners need to find their own path.

The couple shares two kids together: Jaden, 26, and Willow, 24. Will also has a son, Trey, 32, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino. The family, including Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, made a rare red carpet appearance together at the May 2024 premiere of Will’s movie Bad Boys: Ride or Die.

In December 2024, People reported that Will and Jada spent Thanksgiving together with their family and friends, and it was a happy occasion with everyone in good spirits. Despite living apart, it’s clear that they remain a close-knit family.
